Tips for Caring for Computer Networks

Tips for Caring for Computer Networks

Computer networks that have been installed properly should not be left unattended without adequate maintenance so that the functions of the network do not work properly, so that the Tips for Caring for the Computer Network is needed so that the network continues to function properly as a communication path between several computer units in the network. The network treated here is a Local Area Network (LAN) network, not a WAN network.

To take care of the network, we need to know some of the devices in the network, namely, computer servers, client computers, HUB / Switch Hubs, network cables and connectors. Some of the main components in the network mentioned above also need to be treated so that the installed network really functions properly. What will be done in caring for the network that has been designed? follow the Tips for Caring for the Computer Network below.

Computer Maintenance Server

The server computer as a central computer, of course works continuously to serve all client computers that are connected to the server, this makes the computer server also must be considered in maintenance. Maintenance on the server in connection with data stored centrally on the server to be managed properly, do backup data on the server periodically. In addition to data maintenance, server computers should also consist of two units, namely the main server and the replacement server, because the server computer usually works without interruption 24 hours so that at any time in the event of damage or routine maintenance, a replacement server will be installed to replace the main server.

Client Computer Care

The client computer is not like a server computer, if one client computer is damaged, it will not affect another computer unit on the network. Unlike the server computer, if there is damage, communication in the network can be interrupted. However, the client computer must also be given care, such as cleaning the inside of the cpu from dust, cleaning the virus, defragging the files and others.

UTP Network Cable Maintenance

The communication path in a local network other than wireless is to use a cable, so the cable is always routinely noticed. Based on my experience managing computer labs, cable is a component that must be considered, for example, controlling the position of the network cable, whether rats often pass or not, because rats like to eat cables. If mice often go through, you should install a mouse trap, mouse glue or something that is important in order to repel mice so as not to disturb the network cable.

RJ45 Connector Maintenance

The connector as a connector between the cable and the network card (LAN Card / Network Card) must also be given attention in maintenance. The treatment that I usually do in the computer lab that I manage is to clean the brass pins in each connector. It’s a bit tiring because the connector pin is so small that it requires patience to clean it. To clean the connector pins can use emery or may also use safety pins to clean the mushrooms that grow between where the pin is located. After cleaning, don’t forget to brush with a brush.

Maintenance of HUB / HUB Switch

In addition to the server as a data processing center, the HUB function is also important, because if the HUB has a problem, then the computer connected to the network through the HUB is problematic and cannot communicate well with other computer devices. Place the HUB in a room with a temperature that is not too hot, clean the outside of the casing of the HUB from dust so that not too much dust enters the inside of the HUB.

Computer Network Maintenance Tips above are tips in outline only, you as a network manager must be able to know the existing network design so that it facilitates maintenance, for example marking each cable connected to the client computer and server computer or from the computer to the HUB. This is very important to assist in performing computer network maintenance. Even though it’s still just an outline, I hope that the tips above can benefit visitors to this blog and if you have an opinion about tips on caring for the network, don’t hesitate to share your knowledge in the comments section.

Laptop Caring Tips

Laptop Caring Tips

Laptops are one of the portable and easy-to-carry portable computers, which require special attention and care because these devices are more expensive than desktop PCs, so proper care is needed so as to avoid spending more on laptop repairs.

Laptops are portable computer devices that are very sensitive so that they are extra careful so the age of laptop usage is longer. The following are tips on caring for a laptop from a blog. Hopefully these tips are useful for readers.

1. Strip the Laptop

Laptops usually have a wrapper, cover or cover in the form of cloth and plastic. Take off the laptop “clothes” if the laptop is being used. This is meant to keep the air vents on the laptop maintained so that it is smooth in the disposal of hot temperatures from inside the laptop. There are still a lot of us using laptops without removing the laptop wrappers themselves so that the laptop quickly gets hot and causes damage to laptop components.

2. Avoid collisions

Because as a mobile device that is always carried everywhere, it is certainly not separated from the possibility of collisions. Try to keep the impact from happening, even if it takes care not to be hard, because laptops are designed and assembled with thin materials so that the components inside the laptop are easily shifted and cause damage. The device that is most sensitive to collisions is the hard drive, and so far the laptop device that is most often damaged is the hard disk. So that your laptop’s handdisks are safe and long-lived, you should stay away from collisions on your laptop.

3. Put Laptops On The Flat Surface

Place the laptop on a flat surface such as a table, and never place the laptop on a soft surface such as mattresses, pillows, car seats and others. Uneven surfaces can cause air vents on the laptop to be closed so that the process of exchanging heat from the laptop is blocked. Excessive laptop heat can damage memory and other devices.

4. Don’t burden the laptop

As I said above, laptops made of very thin materials can easily be damaged, so avoid placing other items on the laptop. Do not overtake the laptop with books or other objects that can damage the laptop LCD due to excessive pressure.

5. Dont’t Charge Battery Laptop Non Stop

I see some laptop users never remove the charger from the wall socket, even it stays plugged in from night to morning, this is not good for your laptop adapter. According to, the best way to take care of a laptop charger / adapter is to charge if needed, after being full, immediately remove the cable from the socket.

6. Clean the Laptop Periodically

Laptops should not only be used but also remember the maintenance, such as cleaning the LCD screen, cleaning the keyboard and laptop case. Use recommended cleaning fluid and do not use water especially for cleaning LCDs. Be careful in cleaning the LCD because the LCD is very easily scratched so before using cleaning fluid, you should first clean the dust with a soft brush.

7. Keep the Laptop From the Speaker

The speaker has a fairly large magnetic attraction, avoid your laptop from the magnets on the speaker. In addition to avoiding magnets, Soccer also makes a sound and creates a fairly large vibration, so don’t put the laptop on the speaker.

8. Avoid Laptops From Direct Sunlight

Laptops are usually placed in rooms, but it should be noted here is the position of the laptop, whether the position of the laptop can be exposed to direct light from the sun, if it is likely to be exposed to direct light from the sun, you should immediately move to a safer location that is not light direct sun. In addition to not dealing directly with direct sunlight, laptops also should not be stored in a tightly closed cabinet because it can cause condensation in laptop components, causing damage to laptop components when turned on.

Eight tips on caring for the laptop above if you pay close attention it is very influential on the age of a laptop. I have proven this myself, my laptop is more than 5 years old, still safe and there are no problems. Hopefully tips on caring for a laptop from a blog this is useful for all readers.

Benefits of OS Windows 8

Benefits of OS Windows 8

The operating system from Microsoft is in the spotlight of various media because of the capabilities and advantages of the Windows 8 OS

The operating system from Microsoft is in the spotlight of various media because of its capabilities and strengths. You yourself must have heard of an operating system called Windows 8, also just tried to install the Windows 8 os at the same time trying it out and the results did find some advantages that the previous version of Windows os did not have.

1. Use of Touch Screen (Touch Screen)

OS Windows 8 now supports touch screens, so besides being able to manage files and run applications using a keyboard and mouse, Windows 8 can combine all three input devices, namely the keyboard, mouse and touch screen. Although touch screen monitor technology at this time the price is still quite high around 2 to 3 million rupiah.

2. Supports ARM Chip

The Microsoft Windows 8 OS says it supports devices that use the ARM chip infrastructure. The ARM chip is known for its low power usage as on tablets, meaning that Windows 8 can run on low-power computer devices. I myself tried installing Windows 8 on a computer with a specification of a 2.0 GHz dual core processor, 1 GB of memory and 80 GB of HD. The result is Windows 8 runs normally.

3. Password Foto/Image

Security on the Windows 8 OS is better than the previous OS version, because on Windows 8 is equipped with a photo password / image. With photo passwords, making computer security more secure because with a password in the form of photos or images, security is more guaranteed.

4. Boot and Shutdown Faster

I tried installing Windows 7 and Windows 8 on one hard disk, the time needed to install Windows 7 and Windows 8, Windows 8 is faster than Windows 7. Likewise when booting and shutdown, Windows 8 is much faster than Windows 7.

The four advantages of Windows 8 above are the results that I got after trying to install Windows 8 on a computer. There are still many other advantages that I haven’t written here because I haven’t tried it myself, for those who have tried Windows 8 and have different experiences, please share it in the comments section. I think Windows 8 will be more optimal when used on computer devices with specific touch screen monitors.

4 Ways to Set Auto Windows Auto Shutdown 10

This article illustrates four practical methods for setting up Auto Shutdown automatically on Windows 10 computers for better options.

Sometimes, you might expect your computer to automatically shut down in the scheduled time, for example, when some downloading process isn’t finished, but you have to leave the computer screen now. Now this post introduces three ways to set up an automatic shutdown on a Windows 10 computer, which also applies to Windows 8.

Method 1: Set up an automatic shutdown in the Windows 10 by Run dialog box

Step 1: Press the Windows  + R key combination to open the Run dialog box.

Step 2: Type shutdown -s -t number , for example, shutdown -s -t 1800 and then click OK .

Tip: The number in the command entered is time in seconds; 1800 only means 1800 seconds (i.e. 30 minutes). You can set the number according to your own needs.

Method 2: Setting automatic shutdown on Windows 10 by Command Prompt

Step 1: Press Windows + R and then select Command Promp t to open Command Prompt.

Step 2: Type shutdown -s –t number and press the Enter key.

After using the above method to set up automatic shutdown on Windows 10, you can immediately see a notification appear from the bottom right corner of the desktop to let you know that you are about to exit Windows 10 and the computer will be shut down at the scheduled time. The pop-up message will disappear soon.

Method 3: Setup automatic shutdown on Windows 10 by Task Scheduler

Compared to the two methods above, this method will be a little more complicated.

Step 1: Open the Run dialog . Then type taskschd.msc and click OK .

Step 2: After Task Scheduler opens, on the right side of the panel click  Create Basic Task  .

Step 3: Type  Shutdown   in the Name column and click  Next .

Step 4: Choose when you want the automatic shutdown task to start and click Next .

Step 5: Set the specific time when you want your Windows 10 to automatically close and click Next .

Step 6: Select  Start program   and click  Next .

Step 7: Click the Browse button . Navigate to  C : \ Windows \ System32 . Drop down to find the shutdown application file , select it and click  Open .

Step 8: Type –s in the box behind Add argument ( Optional ) and then click Next .

Step 9: Click Finish . Then the settings will take effect and your Windows 10 computer will turn off automatically at the specified time.

Termination of time brings a lot of convenience for us. Hopefully the methods above will help you. In addition, if you want to cancel automatic closing on Windows 10, you only need to open the Run dialog box (or the Command Prompt window) and then type shutdown -a followed by clicking OK to cancel the settings.
